"I don’t think I ever concretely decided to be an improvisor or even a musician. I just started doing it and kept learning by doing it.
I would say I’m more interested in the concepts of action space and time, than around providing a strictly musical experience, whether

ANDREA NEUMANN | inside piano
NOTE: We don't have this interview yet.
Born 1968 in Freiburg, Studied classical piano at the Hochschule der Künste, Berlin. Has been active primarily as musician and composer
in the fields of new music and experimental music since 1994. Has co-organized "Labor Sonor" a series for experimental music, film and
performance in Berlin since 2000.
Her exploration of the piano for new sound possibilities has led her to reduce the instrument to its strings, its resonance board and the
cast-iron frame. Playing this unmounted 'leftover' of a piano, with the help of electronics to amplify and manipulate the sound, she
has developed several of her own playing techniques, sounds, and ways for preparing the instrument. For reasons of weight, a lighter
special instrument was crafted in 2000 according to the measurements of the original heavier inside piano (piano builder, Bernd Bittmann, Berlin).
She has engaged in intensive cooperations in the mixed border areas between composition and improvisation, between electronic and hand-made music
with ensmbles like "Les Femmes Savantes" , "Phosphor" and with musicians like Sophie Agnel, Burkhard Beins, Sabine Ercklentz, Bonnie Jones,
Annette Krebs, Hanna Hartman o.a.
In 2011 she published together with Burkhard Beins, Christian Kesten, Gisela Nauck 'echtzeitmusik berlin, selbstbestimmung einer szene' at Wolke-Verlag

SABINE VOGEL | Bassflute, flute, piccolo & electronics
NOTE: We don't have this interview yet.
Born in Munich, studied jazz-flute at the Anton Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, Austria. In 2000 Sabine Vogel moved to Berlin, since 2005
she has been living in Potsdam. As a flautist Sabine Vogel focuses on sound and improvisation, using extended techniques both acoustic as
well as electronic, creating a very personal contemporary language for the flute. Discovering and producing the unheard, the intimate,
in relation to sound production within the flute, is her main focus of exploration. She takes the sounds from the inside of her flute -
the microcosm of her flute world – and transports these sounds, with the help of amplification, into a sound-able-hear-able world. Bringing
what is inside into the outside. She then combines this world of sound with self-made field recordings- the natural macrocosm of existing sound
- forming a composed mixture between the macro and microcosmic.
Sabine Vogel has played as a soloist or in various formations on festivals like: ISEA RUHR, Ultima Festival/ Oslo, EMS Festival/ Stockholm,
Ultraschall Festival/ Berlin, High Zero/Baltimore, Internationale Ferienkurse Darmstadt, Audiocraft, Oxford, etc. Her current projects are:
ORNIS; an audio-visual Duo with british artist Kathy Hinde, a Duo with australian pianist/organist Chris Abrahams, Landscape Quartet -
an enviromental, soundart project with Bennett Hogg, Matt Sansom, Stefan Östersjö – She is a memeber of the "Splitter Orchester". Sabine
Vogel has a lectureship for flute at the University Potsdam.
She has played and worked a.o. with Anthony Braxton, Arto Lindsay, Tony Buck, Jim Denley, Chris Abrahams, Alex Nowitz, Malin Bång,
Andrea Neumann, Schwimmer,Shannon Cooney, the Walter Thompson Soundpainting Orchestra.

JULIE ROUSSE | laptop, electronics, microphones
NOTE: We don't have this interview yet.
Born in 1979, lives and works in Paris. Sound artist, improviser performer and electroacoustic composer. Her work is diverse and
expressed through many different projects, first of all live performances. She also works on sound installations, music scores for films,
works with choreographers and directors and does sound creation for photographers. Passionate phonographer, she is always looking for
new sonic sources in her travels through Europe and the world, exploring the possibilities of sound capturing in specifically chosen
contexts (urban, natural or industrial); working with different recording devices and microphones, using them as instruments; sometimes
with movie extracts, television or radio archives... In this process she oscillates between purity of the recordings and a special
attraction for archaic, Lo-Fi machines.
Since 2001, she uses that sonic collection - in an experimental process - as her raw material, an infinite source of rhythms and colours,
which she shapes with a real time sound treatment software - real time being the essential element of her spontaneous and chaotic approach.
She digs in the sound - intruding in the detail - exploring, in search of new textures or the unique rhythms of the raw - free from
intervention - sounds. Her work has been presented in Japan, Chile, Canada, United-States, Tunisia, Croatia, Lithuania, Germany,
Netherlands, Belgium and France. She has participated in many events and festivals like La Nuit Blanche à Paris (2005, 2011), Festival
Suoni per il Popolo (Montreal, 2004, 2002), Festival Electrograph (Athens, 2005), Sonification (Zagreb, 2009), Performing Arts Marathon
(New York, 2010), Send+Receive (Winnipeg, 2011), Le Fest (Tunis, 2011)...
Her collaborators are renowned performers or emerging artists from the international improvisation scene : Martin Tétrault, Diane Labrosse,
Sam Shalabi, Kiyoharu Kuwayama, Tim Olive, Alexandre Saint-Onge, Olivier di Placido, Marta Zapparoli, Ignaz Schick, Christine Sehnaoui,
Crys Cole, Anton Mobin... Her pieces have been published on the labels Sub Rosa (2010), TsukuBoshi (2010) et sur les netlabels NoType
(2001), Con-V (2004) and Just Not Normal (2009) and played on Radio Canada, Arte Radio or KKWNE Radio... She has been granted of a
residency in 2013 in Brussels' Q-O2 to create her next sound installation : The House of Dreams.
